LA Sheriff’s Stations Get Funding Boost From Supervisor Barger’s Budget

LOS ANGELES—Following a recent spate of high-profile “smash-and-grab” robberies, Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger announced on Dec. 16 she will provide $1 million from her discretionary budget to boost law enforcement services in unincorporated areas of her district. Los Angeles County Sheriff Department stations that will receive the funding are Altadena, Crescenta Valley, Lancaster, Malibu/Lost Hills, Palmdale, San Dimas, Santa Clarita Valley, and Temple, Barger’s office said. “This month’s busiest holiday shopping days are quickly approaching and crime is indisputably on the rise,” said Barger, who represents the Fifth District. “The recent smash-and-grab crime wave and various robberies are proof that criminals feel bold and untouchable—crimes are increasingly committed in the public eye. These funds will help provide more law enforcement patrols and presence in the communities I represent.
