The streets of Athens, Georgia, came alive Monday night as countless University of Georgia football fans flooded the streets to celebrate the team’s 33-18 win over the University of Alabama to claim the national championship for the first time in decades.

In Athens, where the university is located, fans partied in the streets and could be seen embracing, carrying traffic cones, and climbing light poles, according to footage released of the celebrations, which shut down traffic.
