Grocery store bends knee, promptly removes pro-gun products after Dem politician complains: ‘Go Woke, Go Broke’

Kroger and Harris Teeter, a grocery store chain owned by Kroger, are facing backlash after yanking pro-America products from store shelves over a single complaint.

What happened?

Christy Clark, a Democrat who is campaigning for the North Carolina House of Representatives, complained Monday over pro-America products being sold at her local Harris Teeter grocery store.

The politically incorrect products she targeted were drink koozies. One featured a bald eagle holding a rifle in its talons with the caption, “Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death,” while the other featured Thomas Jefferson holding an AR-style rifle with the caption, “Arms Change, Rights Don’t.”

“I am disappointed these coozies are being sold in an NC store,” Clark said in a message to Harris Teeter and Kroger. “110 Americans die every day from gun violence and most recently children, educators, health care providers, and family members were killed in mass shootings. Please remove them.”

How did Kroger and HT respond?

Harris Teeter responded to Clark’s demand in less than four hours, explaining they would remove the products from their stores.

“Thanks for reaching out, Christy. As soon as these items were brought to our attention we put a recall request into place and these items are being removed from all store locations. We appreciate your concern,” Harris Teeter said.

Kroger, meanwhile, told Clark that company leadership would hear her demand.

“Thanks for reaching out, Christy. We will tell our leadership about your request that we remove these items from our shelves. We appreciate your feedback,” Kroger said.

The quick responses and willingness to remove products that one customer found offensive drew swift backlash. Many critics said they would take their grocery shopping to non-Kroger-owned stores.

“If the corporate bureaucrats at @HarrisTeeter want to engage in leftist virtue signaling, the rest of us should respond accordingly by shopping at supermarkets such as @GiantFood and @Safeway,” one person said.
“Boycott @HarrisTeeter and their corporate owner @kroger for caving to anti-#2A bullies,” another person said.
“Not shopping at @HarrisTeeter anymore. This is disgusting. People are allowed to have different opinions. Canceling one opinion to appease the squeaky wheel shouldn’t be the go to solution. I, for one, not only believe in the second amendment, but the first amendment as well,” another person said.
“I find chia seeds gross and demand you pull all products related to chia seeds,” one person mocked.
“Kroger, while you’re at it, excessive alcohol use is responsible for more than 260 deaths per day. Time to quit selling beer and wine because, because I say so. Go Woke, Go Broke,” another person responded.
“102 people die per day in traffic fatalities. Can you also please make sure no coozies depict cars? Thanks in advance,” another person said.
“No more Harris teeter. Publix and food lion for me,” another person responded.”Seriously? So all it takes is one person on Twitter to complain about something? I’m in your stores every week and I’m sure I can find stuff that I dislike to whine about too. Way to disappoint, @HarrisTeeter. Fortunately there’s a @Publix and @LowesFoods right across the street,” another person said.

In response to criticism, Clark on Tuesday framed herself as a victim who has been “attacked” by “gun rights extremists.”

“Gun rights extremists have long attacked women who speak out against anything related to guns. It is the norm, sadly,” she said. “I have had enough of the gun violence that is plaguing our country. I won’t shut up, and I won’t be deterred by 4-letter insults.”
