A strong majority of U.S. likely voters say that non-border “sanctuaries” demanding that Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) stop busing a fraction of the illegal aliens entering his state to their cities and states should have to take them in.

Nearly two-thirds of likely voters say cities and states that call themselves “sanctuaries” for illegal aliens should have to actually provide sanctuary to illegal aliens, sharing the burden with the border states through which illegal aliens are illegally entering the U.S., courtesy of the Biden Administration’s open-border policy, a new national survey reveals.

In a survey of 1,600 U.S. likely voters, conducted September 14 and 18 by CRC Research for the 85 Fund and published by National Review, respondents were asked if they agreed that “sanctuary cities should have to share the burden of dealing with these illegals and not just the border states.”

One in four voters said that they did not think that sanctuaries should share responsibility for illegal aliens with the border states:

“In order to manage the influx of illegal immigrants crossing the border, the state of Texas has sent buses of immigrants to other states and sanctuary cities including Chicago, New York City, and Washington DC. Do you agree or disagree that sanctuary cities should have to share the burden of dealing with these illegals and not just the border states?”

63% Agree (38% strongly agree, 25% somewhat agree)
25% Disagree (14.5% strongly, 10.3% somewhat)
12% Not Sure/Didn’t Answer

By party, 78% of Republicans, 63% of Independents and 51% of Democrats agree that sanctuary cities should have to provide sanctuary to illegal aliens.
