Three St. Louis Teens Released and Sent Home After Shots Fired at Police Officers

 

Three teens were released from custody after they were with a group who shot at police on Saturday night.

The St. Louis officers were shot while investigating car break-ins on Saturday night.

According to police, several officers were shot at when investigating car break-ins Saturday night at the City Foundry.

St. Louis police officers were on the scene of the break-ins in the south lot of the City Foundry when they heard multiple gunshots coming from the same lot and saw a white Honda Accord driving away. According to police, the passenger of the Honda leaned over the roof and began firing several rounds from a rifle toward the officers and three juveniles that were at the scene.

There were no reports of injuries.

The Honda was last seen driving south on Vandeventer.

The three juveniles that were on the scene tried to run but were taken into custody by the officers. Of those taken into custody, a 15-year-old male and a 16-year-old male had guns in their possession. The 15-year-old was found in possession of a Glock 29 equipped with an auto sear, making the gun fully automatic, and the 16-year-old was in possession of a stolen Glock 19, police said.

The Juvenile Court was contacted and advised officers to release the juveniles to their parents.

The investigation of this event is ongoing.
