Dollar Tree, a discount variety store, has temporarily given up on selling eggs at its stores due to rising egg prices caused by supply chain issues and avian flu.

Despite the average cost of a dozen Grade A eggs falling to $4.21 last month from a high of $4.82 in January, the discount store has decided to pause providing eggs for customers.

“Our primary price point at Dollar Tree is $1.25. The cost of eggs is currently very high,” company spokesperson Randy Guiler said.

Guiler says the store will bring back the eggs when “costs are more in line with historical levels.”

This change will impact the grocery sections of about 8,000 Dollar Tree stores across the United States and Canada.
