LinkedIn claims Vivek Ramaswamy’s account was ‘restricted in error,’ but the Republican presidential hopeful isn’t buying it

Vivek Ramaswamy’s account on LinkedIn was “restricted in error,” a spokesperson for the social media platform claimed, according to the Washington Examiner.

But Ramaswamy, an entrepreneur and author-turned GOP presidential candidate, described LinkedIn’s claim as “laughable” and called upon Microsoft chairman and CEO Satya Nadella to openly denounce the platform’s censorship.

“On May 17 we noticed my account was locked. A LinkedIn employee said it was because I had posted videos containing ‘misleading or inaccurate information.’ We asked them in writing to point out what was false. The employee doubled down & said they do not tolerate ‘misinformation, hate speech, violence, or abuse.’ It took several media inquiries before they restored the account nearly a week later. Calling it an ‘error’ now is totally dishonest,” Ramaswamy tweeted.

“This wasn’t a technical glitch, it was an intentional act of censorship of my views on Biden, China, and climate change. Typical Big Tech behavior: trying to cover their tracks after egregious election interference. I challenge @SatyaNadella to publicly condemn LinkedIn’s censorship, or else this is just the beginning of 2024 election interference,” he wrote.

Ramaswamy has shared a message in which LinkedIn claimed that his account had been “restricted for repeatedly sharing content that contains misleading or inaccurate information.” The platform then listed three posts that supposedly ran afoul of its rules.

For example, one of the posts that LinkedIn listed was a video posted along with the comment, “The climate agenda is a lie: fossil fuels are a requirement for human prosperity.” The platform also took issue with a video posted along with the comment, “The CCP is playing the Biden administration like a Chinese mandolin. China has weaponized the ‘woke pandemic’ to stay one step ahead of us. And it’s working.”

The message had said that LinkedIn would provide Ramaswamy another opportunity to “regain access” to his account if he consented to follow the platform’s terms and not breach them again. It had also said he could appeal the platform’s decision if he felt his content did not run afoul of its policies.

u201cBig Tech election interference has begun: @LinkedIn locked my account & censored me this week for posting videos where I expressed fact-based views as a presidential candidate about climate policy and Bidenu2019s relationships with China.
