The New York Times claimed Elon Musk’s battle with Twitter has spread “misinformation” and “weakened trust” in the social media platform.

“With each needling tweet and public taunt, Mr. Musk has eroded trust in the social media company, walloped employee morale, spooked potential advertisers, emphasized its financial difficulties and spread misinformation about how Twitter operates,” the New York Times’s Kate Conger and Mike Isaac wrote Monday.

The writers did not appreciate Musk’s meme tweets Monday that scoffed at Twitter’s attempt to take the billionaire to court.

As part of his bid to take over Twitter for $44 billion, the Tesla CEO requested information regarding the number of spam bots on the social media platform. Not satisfied with an answer, Musk filed documents with the SEC Friday giving notification of the cancellation of his offer to buy Twitter, sparking a lawsuit against him.

The article slammed Musk for how he “disparaged Twitter’s executives, ridiculed its content policies, complained about the product and confused its more than 7,000 employees with his pronouncements.”

The New York Times writers went on to blast Musk for exposing “the company’s waning financial and business prospects” and riling up “right-wing users who have long accused the company of censoring them, and renewed questions about how Twitter should handle debates over the limits of free speech.”

Concerns over Twitter’s censorship policies preceded Musk’s deal to buy the social media platform, including Trump’s widespread social media bans, the suppression on Twitter of a New York Post story about Hunter Biden before the 2020 election, and several other conservatives who have been suspended or kicked off Twitter for flouting the platform’s content moderation policies.
